ManifestO, fes­ti­val d’images lance un appel à auteurs pour sa pro­chaine édition qui se dérou­lera du 15 sep­tem­bre au 07 octo­bre 2012.
Cette édition sera excep­tion­nelle : à l’occa­sion du 10° anni­ver­saire du fes­ti­val, nous invi­tons 10 pres­ti­gieux pho­to­gra­phes à expo­ser aux côtés de 10 lau­réats sélec­tion­nés suite à cet appel à auteurs.

Exigeant dans sa pro­gram­ma­tion, ManifestO s’est fixé pour objec­tifs :

• Offrir un tremplin aux créateurs photographes par le biais d’un festival à forte visibilité

• Révéler des œuvres de qualité : les lauréats sont sélectionnées par un jury indépendant de professionnels et de personnalités du monde des arts

• Présenter à un large public les travaux d’un photographe de renommée Internationale et une sélection de la jeune création contemporaine

Le fes­ti­val, dont tous les évènements sont gra­tuits et acces­si­bles à tous, s’ins­crit dans une durée 3 semai­nes durant les­quel­les se suc­cè­dent confé­ren­ces, ren­contres avec les artis­tes, accueil des sco­lai­res, per­for­man­ces et noc­tur­nes.

Le succès du fes­ti­val auprès du public (plus de 20.000 visi­teurs cette année encore) et des artis­tes témoi­gne de sa légi­ti­mité et ren­force les ambi­tions de l’orga­ni­sa­tion pour les années à venir.

Aucun thème n’est imposé, chaque dos­sier sera jugé en regard de sa qua­lité et de sa cohé­rence. Le fes­ti­val est ouvert à tout pho­to­gra­phe sans condi­tion d’âge, de natio­na­lité ou de statut (pro­fes­sion­nel ou ama­teur). Les pro­jets col­lec­tifs sont accep­tés.

Les can­di­da­tu­res seront exa­mi­nées par un jury pro­fes­sion­nel excep­tion­nel à l’occa­sion des 10 ans du fes­ti­val. 10 pho­to­gra­phes seront choi­sis par le jury sur la qua­lité de leur pra­ti­que artis­ti­que et sur la per­ti­nence de leur tra­vail. La déci­sion du jury est sou­ve­raine et sans appel.

Date limite d’envoi des dos­siers : 31 mars 2012. Les can­di­dats sélec­tion­nés seront aver­tis exclu­si­ve­ment par cour­riel vers la mi mai. La liste des pho­to­gra­phes sélec­tion­nés sera publiée dans la news­let­ter du Festival et sur Facebook. Les pho­to­gra­phes sélec­tion­nés seront expo­sés à Toulouse du 15 sep­tem­bre au 07 octo­bre 2012.

1 seul dos­sier sera accepté par per­sonne.

Le dos­sier de can­di­da­ture com­plet devra être envoyé à l’adresse sui­vante :

Le dos­sier de can­di­da­ture com­pren­dra :

1) Un dossier papier constitué de :

 Un port­fo­lio papier au format maxi­mum de 21 X 29,7cm.
 Indiquer impé­ra­ti­ve­ment au dos de chaque photo le nom de l’artiste, le nom de la série, le titre de l’image, et ne numéro d’ordre de l’image dans la série (entre 01 et xx)
 Le texte expli­ca­tif de la démar­che et le titre la série. Veuillez également pré­ci­ser le titre de chaque image, le nombre d’image que vous sou­hai­tez expo­ser ainsi que le format et le sup­port des tira­ges d’expo­si­tion
 Une courte bio­gra­phie de l’auteur
 Le for­mu­laire de can­di­da­ture dûment com­plété et signé EN DEUX EXEMPLAIRES

2) Une copie numérique du dossier enregistrée sur CD ou DVD et comprenant :

 Les images en haute défi­ni­tion (300 dpi, format impres­sion cata­lo­gue A4)
 Les images en basse réso­lu­tion (800 pixel sur le plus grand côté)
 Le texte expli­ca­tif et bio­gra­phie format .doc ou .rtf ou .txt ou .odt. Pas de .pdf

Les fichiers image devront avoir un titre de fichier de la forme : nom_numéro.jpg, le nom étant le nom de famille du pho­to­gra­phe et le numéro étant le numéro d’ordre de l’image dans la série (de 01 à xx) Les fichiers texte (expli­ca­tif et bio) devront aussi com­men­cer par le nom du pho­to­gra­phe.

Le jury effec­tuera sa sélec­tion exclu­si­ve­ment au regard des dos­siers papier. Toute can­di­da­ture sans port­fo­lio papier sera exclue. Les sites inter­net des can­di­dats ne pour­ront pas être consi­dé­rés comme pièce du dos­sier de can­di­da­ture.

ManifestO décline toute res­pon­sa­bi­lité en cas de perte, de vol ou de des­truc­tion des tira­ges du dos­sier pen­dant la sélec­tion par le jury ou lors de l’ache­mi­ne­ment postal.

Attention ! Seuls les dos­siers rem­plis­sant l’ensem­ble de ces condi­tions seront exa­mi­nés par le jury.

NB : Les dos­siers reçus sans moyen de réex­pé­di­tion ne pour­ront être récu­pé­rés que lors de la période du fes­ti­val à notre point d’accueil public. Si vous sou­hai­tez que votre tra­vail vous soit ren­voyé après les sélec­tions, veuillez join­dre impé­ra­ti­ve­ment une enve­loppe suf­fi­sam­ment affran­chie ou un coupon réponse inter­na­tio­nal pré­payé.

L’envoi d’un dos­sier de can­di­da­ture impli­que l’accep­ta­tion pleine et entière des condi­tions énoncées au pré­sent appel à auteur. La par­ti­ci­pa­tion à l’appel à auteur est gra­tuite. Les pho­to­gra­phes sélec­tion­nés pour par­ti­ci­per à l’expo­si­tion du fes­ti­val ManifestO devront impé­ra­ti­ve­ment deve­nir mem­bres à vie de l’asso­cia­tion ON/OFF orga­ni­sa­trice du fes­ti­val et s’acquit­ter d’une ins­crip­tion d’un mon­tant de 15 euros. Tout sélec­tionné s’engage à assu­rer l’accro­chage et le décro­chage de ses tira­ges sur le lieu d’expo­si­tion et à être pré­sent lors de la soirée publi­que de ver­nis­sage.

Les tira­ges pho­to­gra­phi­ques, cadres et autres modes de pré­sen­ta­tion sont à la charge des auteurs.

Dans un but de pro­mo­tion (télé­vi­sion, inter­net, pro­gram­mes, affi­ches, tracts…), les auteurs accor­dent à ManifestO le droit de dif­fu­ser des extraits de leur tra­vail (sans contre­par­tie finan­cière pour les pro­duc­teurs et les auteurs). Cette auto­ri­sa­tion vaut aussi pour la publi­ca­tion dans des jour­naux et maga­zi­nes dans le but de pro­mou­voir du fes­ti­val et les auteurs.
Le pho­to­gra­phe atteste et garan­tit que les œuvres sont des créa­tions ori­gi­na­les au sens de la loi sur la Propriété Intellectuelle et qu’elles ne cons­ti­tuent pas la contre­fa­çon d’œuvres pro­té­gées. Le pho­to­gra­phe atteste et garan­tit que les tiers, notam­ment les per­son­nes qui pour­raient figu­rer sur les œuvres ou les auteurs et ayants droits d’œuvres repro­dui­tes sur celles du pho­to­gra­phe, lui ont donné leur auto­ri­sa­tion pour la repro­duc­tion et la repré­sen­ta­tion de leur image ou de leur œuvre. En cas d’évènement grave, la mani­fes­ta­tion pourra être annu­lée ou sus­pen­due à tout moment et sans préa­vis, et ce sans qu’aucun dédom­ma­ge­ment ne puisse être exigé.

ManifestO rému­nère chaque auteur sélec­tionné en s’acquit­tant de 150 € de droits de repré­sen­ta­tion (for­fait pour la durée de l’expo­si­tion) et prend en charge les frais de dépla­ce­ment à hau­teur de 150 € maxi­mum sur remise de jus­ti­fi­ca­tifs.
ManifestO s’engage à ne pas uti­li­ser les images des pho­to­gra­phes non rete­nus dans la sélec­tion.
ManifestO s’engage à n’uti­li­ser les images four­nies par les pho­to­gra­phes sélec­tion­nés que dans un but de pro­mo­tion du fes­ti­val. Il s’engage à contac­ter le pho­to­gra­phe pour obte­nir son auto­ri­sa­tion et conve­nir des condi­tions de droit d’auteur dans l’éventualité d’une uti­li­sa­tion des images qui dépas­se­rait ce cadre (édition d’un livre rétros­pec­tive, ...).

Call for Applications FESTIVAL MANIFESTO The Image fes­ti­val of Toulouse

Manifesto, the fes­ti­val laun­ches its calls for appli­ca­tions for its next edi­tion which will take place from September 15 to October 7, 2011. Founded in 2002 by a group of pho­to­gra­phers from Toulouse, after 10 years of exis­tence the fes­ti­val ManifestO has esta­bli­shed itself as a major event pho­to­gra­phy in France.

Demanding in its pro­gra­ming, ManifestO, the fes­ti­vals, has set its mis­sion to be
• Disclose annually to the public a selec­tion of contem­po­rary pho­to­gra­phy crea­tion
• Provide visi­bi­lity and a oppor­tu­ni­ties for crea­tive pho­to­gra­phers through a high-pro­file fes­ti­val
• Show high qua­lity pho­to­gra­phic work : a dozen win­ners each year are selec­ted by an inde­pen­dent jury of pro­fes­sio­nals and per­so­na­li­ties from the arts busi­ness
• Present to the widest audience the work of an inter­na­tio­nally renown pho­to­gra­pher invi­ted by the fes­ti­val
• In a period of time of 3 weeks, pro­pose free and acces­si­ble to all events, such as confe­ren­ces, mee­tings with artists, hos­ting school visits, per­for­man­ces and night

The fes­ti­val is a suc­cess both with the public (20,000 visi­tors this year again) and with the pho­to­gra­phers. This legi­ti­macy streng­thens the ambi­tions of the orga­ni­zers for years to come.

ManifestO invi­tes all pho­to­gra­phers wishing to exhi­bit their work to send a port­fo­lio of their pro­ject.

There is no defi­ned theme. Each pro­po­si­tion will be judged in terms of its qua­lity and consis­tency. The fes­ti­val is open to all pho­to­gra­phers without any condi­tion of age, natio­na­lity or status (pro­fes­sio­nal or ama­teur). Collective pro­jects are accep­ted.

Applications will be revie­wed by a hight qua­lity pro­fes­sio­nal jury.

10 pho­to­gra­phers will be chosen by the jury based on the qua­lity of their artis­tic prac­tice and the rele­vance of their work. The jury’s deci­sion is final and cannot be sub­ject to any appeal.

Deadline for sub­mis­sions : March 31, 2012.

Selected can­di­da­tes will be noti­fied by e-mail only around mid May. The list of selec­ted pho­to­gra­phers will be publi­shed in the news­let­ter of the Festival and on the Facebook account of the Festival ManifestO.

The selec­ted pho­to­gra­phers will be exhi­bi­ted in Toulouse from September 15 to October 07, 2011.

Only one appli­ca­tion will be accep­ted per person.

The appli­ca­tions must include : • A paper file consis­ting of
◦ A prin­ted port­fo­lio (size up to 21 x 29.7 cm.) Always indi­cate the back of each photo the name of the artist, the name of the pre­sen­ted series, the title of the image, and the serial number of the image in the series (bet­ween 01 and xx)
◦ A text pre­sen­ting the series and the title of the series.
Please spe­cify the title of each image, the number of images you want to show in the exhi­bi­tion and the size and form inten­ded for the exhi­bi­tion prints.
◦ A short bio­gra­phy of the author
◦ The appli­ca­tion form duly com­ple­ted and signed in 2 dupli­ca­tes
• A digi­tal copy of the paper file on CD or DVD which inclu­des
◦ The high-reso­lu­tion images (300 dpi, A4 cata­log print size)
◦ The images in low reso­lu­tion (800 pixels on the lon­gest side)
◦ The text pre­sen­ting the series and the bio­gra­phy in .Doc or .Rtf or .Txt or .Odt format. No .Pdf accep­ted.

Image files should have a file­name using the fol­lo­wing format : name_number.jpg, the name being the sur­name of the pho­to­gra­pher and the number being the serial number of the image in the series (01 to xx) Text files (pre­sen­ta­tion texte and bio) must also have a file­name star­ting with the name of the pho­to­gra­pher.

The jury will make its selec­tion solely on the basis of paper files. Applications without paper port­fo­lio will be exclu­ded. The web­si­tes of the can­di­da­tes may not be consi­de­red as part of the appli­ca­tion.

ManifestO dis­claims any lia­bi­lity for loss, theft or des­truc­tion of prints or any part of the appli­ca­tion during the pro­cess of selec­tion by the jury inclu­ding while it is in the mail.

Warning ! Only appli­ca­tions ful­filling all these condi­tions will be consi­de­red by the jury.

NOTE : If you want your work to be retur­ned after the selec­tions, please make sure you attach to the appli­ca­tion an enve­lop of the right size with suf­fi­cient pos­tage (stamps). For non french based appli­cants,your work will be retur­ned only if you send along with the appli­ca­tion an enve­lop and a pre­paid postal reply coupon.

Applications recei­ved without return enve­lop can be retrie­ved during the fes­ti­val period in our public recep­tion point.

Submitting an appli­ca­tion implies the full accep­tance by the pho­to­gra­pher of all the condi­tions of the pre­sent call for appli­ca­tions.

Participation in the call for appli­ca­tions is free. The pho­to­gra­phers selec­ted to exhi­bit their work in the Festival ManifestO must become life­time mem­bers of the asso­cia­tion “ ON / OFF” (fes­ti­val orga­ni­zer) and pay a one time regis­tra­tion fee of 15 euros.

Each selec­ted pho­to­gra­pher com­mits to doing the ins­tal­la­tion and the dis­mant­ling of his work on loca­tion of the exhi­bi­tion and to be pre­sent during the eve­ning of the public ope­ning.

Photographic prints, frames and other forms of pre­sen­ta­tion are pro­vi­ded by the authors at their costs.

For the pro­mo­tion of the fes­ti­val (tele­vi­sion, inter­net, pro­grams, pos­ters, lea­flets ...), the authors grant ManifestO the right to dis­tri­bute excerpts of their work (without finan­cial coun­ter­part for the pro­du­cers and authors). This autho­ri­za­tion also applies to publi­ca­tions in news­pa­pers and maga­zi­nes in order to pro­mote the fes­ti­val and the authors.

The pho­to­gra­pher cer­ti­fies that the images are ori­gi­nal crea­tions under the French Law on Intellectual Property and do not cons­ti­tute infrin­ge­ment of copy­righ­ted work.

The pho­to­gra­pher war­rants that third par­ties, inclu­ding those that may appear on his work or authors and copy­right hol­ders of those works repro­du­ced on the pho­to­gra­pher’s work, gave their him per­mis­sion for the repro­duc­tion and repre­sen­ta­tion of their image.

In case of serious event, the fes­ti­val may be can­ce­led or sus­pen­ded at any time without notice and without com­pen­sa­tion for the authors.

Manifesto com­mits to paying to the selec­ted authors a “repre­sen­ta­tion right” of 150 € (for the dura­tion of the exhi­bi­tion) and will pay for travel costs up to 150 € (upon pre­sen­ta­tion of costs proofs)

Manifesto com­mits not to use the images sent by the pho­to­gra­phers which where not selec­ted.

Manifesto com­mits to use the images pro­vi­ded by the selec­ted pho­to­gra­phers only for the pur­pose of pro­mo­ting the fes­ti­val and to contact in advance the pho­to­gra­phers for per­mis­sion and agreeing the terms of copy­right in the event of use of the images for other uses not linked to the fes­ti­val (retros­pec­tive edi­tion of a book, ...).
